PUNCETTO
"I recently purchased Puncetto Valsesiano - Manuale de Base from
http://www.italian-needlecrafts.com/.
I live in the USA, and received my order in a week. This is Elena Rossi's website (a member of NEEDLELACETALK) She speaks English. For those seeking puncetto instructions, this is a terrific book. Manuale de Base means the basics. If you do not understand the Italian (like me), the diagrams are easy to follow. After a year of looking for basic techniques, I am well pleased. In addition, I am more confident, after fumbling with other sources. Best wishes, Lucy Ludwig"
From Lucy:
A SCUOLA DI PUNCETTO VALESIANO - extremely well executed book on Puncetto with clear, colorful graphics and lots of pictures. The graphical notation system is the same as in Manuale de Puncetto Valsesiano. I think the Scuola and the Manule pair well, but one or the should get you started.

PUNCETTO COLORATO - by the same publisher, with the same high production values, covers colorwork. I find the designs and color combinations very inspiring for all sorts of techniques. Brona has posted some diagrams for simple motifs on her blog:

Laurie Waters has collected a lot of information on puncetto for her article on LaceNews, including some how-to videos in other languages. But seeing the motions might still be useful.

Here is a Japanese site with clear photos of the first stage, using thick cord. Maybe it will help you see the starting point.

Aleksandra: thanks. I added it to the list.
I suggest adding the Facebook page "I Gioielli di Simona" to the sources of information. Incredibly beautiful close-up photos of puncetto lace. For inspiration and study: https://www.facebook.com/simohobbygioielli/photos/?ref=page_internal
Avital -- a good find. thanks
Have you seen this blog? Wonderful work!

It's in Russian, but you can translate it if you're using Chrome.
Alessandra, thank you very much for your reply!
You have very beautiful Stella.

Interesting, thanks for the clarification Alessandra.
Hi Aleksandra, with the word Stella (or Stellina) we intend any small piece of work (usually squared, but can be also round or as the star I attached) which can be inserted in a fabric. It can contain any motif or pattern. I guess the Avital wordlist uses the word "basic" because it's the basic pattern that is taught in the first classes.

An interesting question. I see that none of our Puncetto experts has repsonded. They probably don't have an answer for you. All I can add is that terminology for various kind of lace making are a constant problem. We just can't seem to agree on a set of terms that everyone agrees with.
Hello!
I have a question for those who know the puncetto technique very well.
Tell me, in this technique, any square pattern is called a "star" or containing certain motifs or a specific pattern?
On this site there is news about puncetto courses. And the students created a small star with their initials ("...piccola stellina con le iniziali del loro nome." - "piccola stellina"-small star).

In the Avital wordlist it is written that "stella" is a "star" and that this concept refers to basic Puncetto squares. What is the main "basic"?
Link: https://apinnick.wordpress.com/2011/03/22/puncetto-italianenglish-g...
So any square puncetto pattern is it a stella or not?
Thanks in advance for your reply.

Barbara, did you find the answer to your question?
If you did not find anything, then on page 24 of the comments for this group Avital writes a little about adding color blocks.
I myself have not tried to make color puncetto
I hope it will be clear what I wrote - I used Google translator.
