Lovely work, Elizabeth. It's a great work convert a cross stitch pattern to needlelace.  An excelent idea.

Thank you, Judy.However it is not difficult, and is worked in sections, just like the leaves in the Challenge are being worked. I just used different coloured threads for various sections.
What level of lacemaker are you? You should be able to work a simple butterfly if you can work a leaf.

The thread used was, if I remember correctly, guttermans silk - on the blue reel. (S303)
The design was taken from a Cross Stitch embroidery design in Jan Woodman's book "The Magic of the Forest". It now permanently resides in Denver, Colorado with the Rocky Mts Lace Guild!
