Why not just put them in as embroidery? That's not cheating. It is problem solving! The piece is nicely done, and your stitches are so regular and even. But I think I would like it better if it were all in one color. That is my personal bias. Most of the time I think color detracts from the specific beauty of needle lace. Either way, your control of your stitching far exceeds mine.

As you can see, the owl has no eyes or beak.  I was unable to do them while doing the face, so I thought that I would do them separately and attach them.  But this is not working out.  I just tried to do the eyes and they end up taking up the whole face.  I'm looking for any suggestions.
