"Thank you so much for your precious advice Elizabeth, I'll think about all this when making my second wing ! And for the first pair, it will not be a problem if they turn out clumsy or a little different. The important now is to learn."

I need courage

Ok I have been "chickening around" for months now. My first steps of the very first project still lay there and look at me, saying "you don't dare do you?" and in fact it's true, since I found out I should begin with something easier than I first had planned.

But I haven't begun on anything easier yet, I've just postponed this new adventure and in the meantime I've just done small things in other crafty areas (mostly tatting).

Now I was so lucky to find a friend who lives nearby who… Continue

After a little pause...

I had to take a little pause from ...well from thinking ;) because I had to finish another crafty project for the 12th of June (some sewing).

Now I am back to my needlelace project, thinking it will be wise to follow the advice I received and perhaps trying something easier than a pair of dragonfly wings to begin with.

I was thinking to make some drop-shaped forms and try different stitches on them (the ones which look nicest thinking about the future wings).

Besides,… Continue

Just beginning

I am very glad that I have just found this group.

I just recently discovered my passion for needlelace, but have no other sources than the internet to learn it !

Only one month ago I barely knew about it.

I have an idea for a first project, but it's just a blurry idea, I cannot yet visualize how I wish the result to be (perhaps because I still have no experience).

I probably should start with a very simple shape first, but instead I'm already following this idea I have,… Continue

Tonight I was doing a little surfing and found this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otCJ6-5Kf8c
It shows making a wired leaf for stumpwork embroidery. But the same principle would be used in making a dragonfly's wing.

I saw your request to join the other NEEDLELACETALK on the socialgo network. I approved it, but that version of our group was only created as a test, in case we had to move to a different host. It is now certain that we will stay here, so I may shut down the other NEEDLELACETALK.

But I did look at your website amarilliart. Fascinating. Your portraits are so interesting! I do wish you would post your website address here on your profile page. Even though it is not lace, our members still might find it interesting.
