Hi Janet,

I'm glad you liked the Alençon article in the bulletin.  I see you have tried a lot of different types of needle lace so far.  Do give this a try too.  I will be teaching it at the 2015 convention.  Will you be coming?  I'd love to meet you.

Hi Janet Tx for finding the rooster, i would otherwise have missed him. Love the use of la ombré on the feet and legs, also the chevron tail feathers. I'll be having a look for more Milanese bobbin lace on laceioli, though once I get down into the bowels of that photo library, I will probably resurface as a wizen old lady!kind regards

Thanks Janet, I did the design and lay in a drawer for 8 years later, in January, I started to embroider it. Here it is finished.

Pam and Pam's Husband:

I have set up the profiles for everybody so that the last slot in the question-and-answer is a space for posting a link where one can purchase a book written by that member.  Please go to Pam's profile and read through the questions again.  Please also add your link to that bottom slot.  It will be easier for our other members to find in the future.

Hi, Janet,

Thanks for your kind words, it would be great to meet up, but Salt Lake City is quite a trip from Yorkshire!! [Actually, this is Geoff replying, since I'm more used to computers, and Pam asked me to help] The book was published by the on-line Lulu site, and this link should bring it up http://www.lulu.com/shop/pamela-king/a-journey-from-blanket-stitch-to-needlelace/paperback/product-21059048.html If necessary, I can order it for you and it can be delivered by Lulu to you (It is print-on-demand). There are two versions, the one with the link is a paperback, if you change Pamela to Pam in the link, you will see the exact same book with a coil binding so it will lie flat. Have a look at the Preview pages before deciding whether you want to go for it! It costs about £25 in English.

Pam is a member of an enthusiastic group of about 12 ladies who meet in Pickering every month. They do a range of work, including bobbin-lace, Hardanger, and various other puzzling activities, while I get on with some computer stuff. Pam is presently trying some depression lace, which originated in US as you will know.

We have been to Utah years ago, when I was lucky enough to be sent on trips to  Colorado springs with my job, and we toured round. We have some great memories of the area. Look forward to hearing again, and I'll ask Pam to let me post some designs on the site. Best wishes, Geoff on behalf of Pam

Sorry I haven't replied before only my husband put the picture on line! Let me explain, earliar this year I put all my designs together in a book, which my husband helped me with on the computer, thats his thing! I do Needle-lace with a small group in North Yorkshire England I tend to use my own designs or modified ones, our small group kept on to me to put my designs together,so this is what I did earleir this year. So got very behind with my other love gardening! So have not been dealing with emails. But to answer your question, the back ground to the birds I worked in a modified ARGENTAN GROUND but instead of buttonholing the bars I twisted the thread around the bars. It works really well, without any sides to the stitch. I hope this helps Pam King

Janet

Welcome.  Please read all the NOTES.  They explain our policies, and how the software works.  Join any groups that interest you.  I especially recommend the BEGINNERS group.  Also, click on TUTORIALS on the gray bar above.  There are some tutorials on our site, with stitch diagrams.  And we have albums of beginner pieces and stitch diagrams.  Take some time to explore.  If you have questions, or have trouble finding these things, contact me and I'll try to help.
