I saw your discussion on stitchinfingers regarding resources for Oya. Did you look at the opening page of our group on OYA? Just under the icon is a long verbal section, and it lists books and some online tutorials.

I'm planning an irregular collar for a dress I made years ago, that will probably take me ages to finish. Do you always work your lace on a pillow? I hold mine in the hand, so I can bring it with me wherever I go.

The simple heart shape with an outline thread running right around and down the middle to the point is the easiest heart pattern for needlelace. You have two sides then to work on and can practise two stitches. As you get good at the stitches, I will flood you with more. It's a promise.

If you are still thinking about a needle lace pillow -- look at my most recent post to our LINKS AND TUTORIALS. I found several videos in the web showing people working needle lace, some with various pillows and some in the hand. One of them might give you ideas about size, etc.

I like PattyD's modern tatting too. She makes layers and random shapes, and all that gives interesting texture to her work. I like it much more than regular tatting.
