Hi Ombretta, thank you so very much for your response, it has clarified the technique wonderfully. Not much being achieved in our household/garden, where I definitely should be working, as my head is full of Burano!! Lace probably has this effect on many of us.x
Teri, Nous sommes maintenant quelque unes à avoir en main le livre de Ombretta. Tenez-nous au courant de votre expérience avec le "sacola" (or twisted buttonhole stitch), ce point tellement important et pas facile. Des heures de plaisir! Now, some of us have on hand the book of Ombretta. Keep us informed about your experience with the "sacola" (or twisted buttonhole stitch) it's a so important stitch and difficult issue. Hours of fun!
Hi Ombretta, thank you for your kindness. My lovely husband is coping extremely well and he can have a good rest when your book arrives later in the week. I shall be so engrossed in all which it offers.kind regards
Do you do all your lace in the twisted stitch? - or most of it?
Your work is so beautifully even. I wish I could get mine looking like that!
I think I "discovered" needlelace at too late an age. If I had been young when I started, then I might have had the patience to practice more carefully at the beginning!!
Please keep showing us your work. it gives us inspiration.
Hi Ombretta, thank you. I would like to order a copy of the first book from you please. Could you please send me an Email message via this site on how to order/pay please. I will use google to translate the Italian text and hopefully your diagrams will guide me too. I'm excited!
Thank you for the link and information on the threads. Is the technique for working "gnochetti" stitch detailed in your book? I am looking ahead to Christmas and wonder where I can purchase a copy of your book with the technique detailed. Is the book available directly from you and if so what the price is? Thank you again Ombretta.
We have published a small manual on the basic technique of needle lace of Burano. It is in Italian. In my blog is the presentation www.ombrettapanese.it

Another question, - after looking at your blog, and drooling over your beautiful lace -
What is the silk thread you use?
do you use various thicknesses in each piece, ore one thickness for the whole of the piece?
Do you do all your lace in the twisted stitch? - or most of it?
