At what point in history did it become the norm for lace makers to use a single, but doubled, length of thread to work the cordonnet?

Unlike bobbin lace, Needlelace remains relatively unknown. Just wondering how you all came of hear, or see, this wonderful ancient craft ....

I am a good photographer only ....
Hi Teri,
thanks for your concern. I have started a simple needlelace flower to get back into it. I also want to do the same for the pag lace. I have not done any of that for a year. Will post as soon as I have anything.

Hello Teri. Sorry I'm late, but only now I have entered the blog. I did not understand your question well, so I'll explain to you how we put the thread of “rilievo” (padding-gimp) after finished all the embroidery. If the gimp is in the interior of the work we fix it with a thin thread (N 100) only with a overcast stitch, if the padding is on the outer edge of the lace (where previously we have already fixed the gimp with overcast stitch) we add an additional free thick thread and we cover everything with the buttonhole stitch. If you look at the picture on page 29 you will see this (I did not realize that the needle was so wrong when I took the photo). If you like, you can also cover the internal padding with buttonhole stitch you will have a visual effect stronger. In my blog there are some magnified leaves embroidered by my friend Adriana who loves this finishing. The name is “Fiori di Adriana”. I hope I have been helpful to you, and if is not, write me again. A hug
Hi Teri. Thanks for the comment, but they are no beads. they are normal pins with red head and I slipped them among small circles with top padding for the photo. I wanted them to look small christmas balls. Merry Christmas
Hi Teri I'm glad you enjoyed the book and if you have doubts please write an email to me, but careful not to jump too. Remember the greenhouse. A hug. ombretta
Hi Teri, I read about your accident with the greenhouse and I was not happy that the greenhouse has won the battle. I wish you a speedy recuperation. A hug.

Teri: it sounds as if your green house won the fight you had with it yesterday. So sorry to hear about your arm. Right or left? The one with fine motor control, or the other?
