Are you still having trouble signing in?  If so, go to the box in the upper right hand corner with the links to SIGN UP or SIGN IN. Click on SIGN IN. At the bottom of the little screen that pops up is a link if you forgot your password. The system will walk you through the procedure. I have no way to know what password you used to sign up. The software won't give me that information.

There is very little special equipment you will need for needlelace.

To make the stitches you will need tapestry needles (or some kind of needle with blunt points), in several sizes, probably sizes 20 - 26. The sizes you use most will depend on what scale of work appeals to you. For very fine traditional scale work you will need the finer sizes. For large scale modern work, the larger sizes.

You will need thread in 2 sizes, thick for the outline threads and thinner for the lace stitches. You can use any thread you like. I prefer natural fibers, myself, either cotton or linen. So, for instance, for coarse work, cordonnet crochet cotton #10 plus cordonnet #40.  Or Cordonnet #40 or #50 with tatting cotton #80 as the fine thread. You can also use pearl cotton, which comes in sizes 3,5, 8 and 12. There are some modern quilting cottons which come in beautiful colors. I like both Sulky quilting cottons and Aurifil.

You will also need some small pieces of fabric to serve as the temporary scaffold while you work on the lace. How big the pieces depends on how large the total lace will be. Most of our learning patterns will need 6 inch x 6 inch cloths. Any medium weight cloth will do.

It is useful to have on hand some sticky plastic film. We use it to cover the pattern, so the printer ink doesn't rub off on the lace. You can buy it in rolls at Walmart in their closet section.

Some of our photos showing the working set up:

Be sure to look at our BEGINNERS group where much of this is explained.  I also have some general descriptions of the working setup on my personal website.

Don't hesitate to come back with more questions.
