I have a basic question about Teneriffe lace "loom".  Do you actually need a loom or can the effects be achieved by the plastic canvas or even pinning a paper template to a pillow (like a bobbin lace…Continue

"Thanks Kate for the picture.  So on top of the foam, the brown circle, is that cardboard or actually the material where you transferred the circles?  I am getting an idea of how to start.....  I have a hard time being creative :)"

Number of Spokes

I am trying to do the pattern in the Alexandra Stillwell book on Teneriffe Lace.  The sample pattern shows with 36 spokes/pins.  I bought a plastic canvas and it has 122 spokes I can create.....which is not a multiple of 36.  Therefore, my question is whether it matters how many spokes you have when you are following a pattern. Also, if I am using a paper pattern instead and mounting it on a pillow/cushion of some sort, how big am I drawing the concentric circles?  The sample on page 37 of the…See More

I have a basic question about Teneriffe lace "loom".  Do you actually need a loom or can the effects be achieved by the plastic canvas or even pinning a paper template to a pillow (like a bobbin lace pillow).  I want to do just a small round motif. If I am using the plastic canvas....in one of the pictures (Lorelei's reply to another discussion), how do I anchor the threads at the outer circle.  Am I pinning through the holes at the periphery of the plastic canvas?  OR, is there even a need to…See More

Welcome.  Please read all the NOTES.  They explain our policies, the laces we include, and how the software works.  Join any groups that interest you.  We do have one for SOL LACES, which includes teneriffe.  Alex Stilwell's book is available online for free.  A link in in the ONLINE RESOURCES page accessible from the opening page of our SOL LACES group.  Your tatting is lovely.  You might also enjoy another online network that I administer, which includes tatting.  http://laceioli.ning.com      Take so time to explore our network.  If you have any questions, contact me and I'll try to help.
