Dear All, Many thanks for your comforting words to all of you. I have not been able to settle to anything creative since being shaken awake on my 72nd birthday with the 7.1 earthquake. We have had about 800 shakes or after shocks since then & one wonders how the house stands up to it! However I am coping okay but still sleeping with a night-light on & the radio going very quietly - just so I can hear a human voice in the room. I am still very unsettled in myself but I know that once the quakes have finished I will be back to my old normal self again.

Oh Dear! haven't you had sufficient shakes yet?

I do hope you are still safe, and your health is improving.,

I am away on holiday, (with my new laptop) and send best wishes.

Hi Lorelei, most of the after shocks are 4.5 to 3.1 & some last longer than others. Everyone is on edge since the big 7.1 waiting for another one!

It has to be terrifying to feel those aftershocks at night and never know if one will jostle something loose. Here in Chicago a tiny little 4.1 is a rare and noticeable event, and kind of entertaining. But waiting for the water pipes to burst or electric cables to be severed, let alone walls ..... Do they give intensity numbers to the aftershocks? Are they little bitty 2s and 3s or 5s and 6s?
