I am very glad that I have just found this group.
I just recently discovered my passion for needlelace, but have no other sources than the internet to learn it !
Only one month ago I barely knew about it.
I have an idea for a first project, but it's just a blurry idea, I cannot yet visualize how I wish the result to be (perhaps because I still have no experience).
I probably should start with a very simple shape first, but instead I'm already following this idea I have, which I wonder if it might be a little too complicated for a beginner (though it's very small).
It's a pair of dragonfly wings.
I have found the shape and made the drawing, but I'm still undecided on how to divide the types of stitches, which parts should be more transparent and which have more tight stitches.
For the moment I'm just letting it be, while I think about it and let the idea crystallize a little better.
Has anyone seen dragonfly or other insect wings made with lace? it'd be interesting to see :)
I really like a lot this design I found : http://www.ricamoitalianonline.it/public/stella23_01.pdf
(in italian but with nice photos).
Isn't this amazing?

That is a beautiful piece. The tension is the key with pieces like this and it takes a long time to develop. We will help you.

That is a beautiful piece that you found. But one of our members has made some dragonfly and butterfly pieces. Look among our PHOTOS at http://needlelacetalk.ning.com/photo/photo/listForContributor?scree.... But you are right, you should really practise some stitches first on any simple pattern. Go to our PHOTOS, click on ALL ALBUMS, looke for the album NEEDLE LACE PATTERNS. With needle lace design transparencies and contrasts between dense and transparent are what makes good work. I look forward to seeing where you take it.
