After having dinner with a new friend, I returned to the hotel to go to the Teacher's Showcase.  Right off, what I liked about the event this year is that it was so spread out.  room for everyone to just come in and walk around to every table.  The collection of teachers this year (as every year) is very talented and you can really see that at this event.  They put out their most beautiful pieces.  As you look at every table, you are inspired and want immediately to take their class.

I think it must be so satisfying for the teachers to have their work displayed and admired.

But suddenly, like many others, I realized that I was exhausted.  All this fun wears a person out.  I needed to get rest before the next days fun.

Just a comment before I leave you.... it is a wonderful feeling to be here among "my people".  Those other people that are as crazy as you are to get excited to see a piece of lace centuries old, that feel like a little kid so happy to finally get the "stitch" right on the lace, that share a passion for making this complicated lace just for the joy of making it.  In this world of fast, easy and quick, here we celebrate the fact that it is not fast, easy and quick and accept the challenge every day to make our lace better.  We ask questions, we study books and pieces of completed lace, we practice until our fingers fall off just for the shear joy of completing a piece well and having this beautiful piece of art that we have created.

I remember that same feeling you describe about being in a place with 200 people who are crazy in exactly the same way that you are, crazy about lace, about the complicated structures we create with string.  I remember the "I'm not a lunatic" feeling on finding so many people just like yourself.

I wish all of needlelacetalk was there.  I am just very grateful that I have the opportunity to come.  wow, are you right, even when I try to sleep, it is all swirling in my head.  I love chocolate and it is like collecting boxes of chocolate to eat when you get home.  it is only one week of convention and then it takes a year to process all the thoughts and wishes.

Hi Linda, I don't really think you are in Sacramento but in a place called heaven! Seeing some many stimulating things really does make one tired, as our brain can only take so much in at once and it sounds as though your senses are being assailed by so much stimuli. Even when you try and rest, I guess everything is still flitting around your head..... I should imagine there is quite a force field of energy emanating from all of you just so wish I were there.
