The triangular section in the upper right hand quadrant is definitely a bobbin lace ground. We aren't looking at that part. It is the needlelace stitch inside the heavily raised crescent that we are talking about, that my original comment referred to.
The large holes is bobbin lace and is the heading attached to the needle lace.
hope this will clear things up.
